We then begin an uphill trek along the slope of a steep hill, ascending to its summit, where the remains of an ancient Pucar\u00e1\u2014a Diaguita observation and defensive fortress from the pre-Inca period\u2014are located. From the top, we enjoy excellent panoramic views of the dam and the Sierra del Velasco mountain range.
