Departing from La Rioja city, we visit La Quebrada and Los Sauces Dam, skirting its western shore until reaching the starting point of the hike. We then begin an uphill trek along the slope of a steep hill, ascending to its summit, where the remains of an ancient Pucará—a Diaguita observation and defensive fortress from the pre-Inca period—are located. From the top, we enjoy excellent panoramic views of the dam and the Sierra del Velasco mountain range. Afterwards, we return to the city of La Rioja.
