A full-day excursion from La Rioja city to El Chiflón Provincial Natural Park, at the gateway to the Bermejo Valley. The park features multicoloured canyons, petrified tree trunks more than 250 million years old, pre-Hispanic remains and remarkable rock formations shaped over millions of years.

Note: All circuits in the park must be undertaken with a local guide from Parque Natural El Chiflón.

This park is part of the Ischigualasto–Villa Unión Geological Basin, which was formed during the Triassic Period. Like Talampaya National Park, it features sandstone formations shaped by weathering and erosion, revealing spectacular layers of different colors.

We depart from La Rioja at 7:00 a.m. Upon arrival at the park, passengers must hire a local guide before entering the park and beginning the circuit.

The Traditional Hiking Circuit takes approximately 2 to 2.5 hours to complete. It consists of five stops and follows a trail through a canyon of sedimentary rock formations shaped by erosion:

• Stop 1 – Los Morteros: Introduction to the park and starting point of the hike.
• Stop 2 - Geological formations
• Stop 3 – Petrified Trunks
• Stop 4 - Botanical Garden
• Stop 5 - El Chiflon Balcony: panoramic views of the park and 150 National Route

The park also offers cycling routes and other hiking trails where visitors can discover additional rock formations, such as “El Hongo” (The Mushroom).
